Q: Who do I work with?
- I work with anyone who can already drive but struggles to drive on certain types of roads, eg: Motorways, Dual carriageways, long straight roads, down hill, bridges etc.
Q: Is Vehophobia Gender specific?
- No, I have worked with male and female clients.
Q: Is this a talking therapy? / Can this course be done on-line?
- I can work with people both locally to me, up to two hours away, nationally and even internationally.
- I can offer one to one in car up to two hours away.
- I can work via video calls for coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming sessions.
Q: “Is it better to attend a talking therapy course before coming to you?”
- You certainly don’t have to. A form of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) / NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), and anxiety management is applied during our sessions, particularly at the beginning as it’s important to gain an understanding of how and where the driving anxiety has stemmed from.
- Some clients however have come to me having completed some form of talking therapy and many feel they have benefitted from doing this.
Q: What areas can I cover?
- North Thames Valley area. (But not exclusively)
- South Thames Valley, Hertfordshire, Northants etc. These and other areas can be covered at a separate rate subject to mileage and travel time. I can travel up to 1.5 to 2 hours but charges will be reflected accordingly. (See Prices and Packages)
Q: “Do I need to have my own vehicle?”
- You will need your own vehicle or have access to one.
Q: “How long do you work with people?”
- It entirely depends upon the client. The initial package provides two 1.5 to 1.3/4 hr sessions, but most clients require further sessions.
- It depends entirely on the goals you wish to reach together with availability and budget.
Q: “How often should I book sessions with you?”
- This depends upon your availability and budget.
- Some clients like to book weekly sessions for a period of time and then move to monthly after a time.
- Some will book monthly but with specific targets to achieve in-between sessions.
- (Note the most successful clients are the ones who use their driving journal to set specific targets and record their successes, apply the process and use the coping strategies set before they drive and while driving).
Q: “When are you available?”
- I am available most Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Fridays.
Q: “Do you work with Provisional Licence Holders who struggle with Anxiety?”
- I generally work with people who have a full licence, though it’s possible I could assist in giving extra guidance to someone who struggles with anxiety to help with their test. (clients will need their own vehicle if I am to come out on the road with them).
